Publishers Guide: Getting Started

To make the most out of your traffic with our ads we recommend you split-test several different ad units using the methods below to find out what works best for your visitors and increases your revenue.

Publisher Basics

Once you have created your Publisher account and logged in you need to:

  1. Click Add Custom Channel - Create a Publisher Channel with a unique name (eg. Top Banner) so you can identify it easily.
  2. Click Ad Code Wizard - Choose Ad Size and Ad Color, then select the appropriate Content Channel and the Publisher Channel you just created.
  3. Copy and paste the provided Ad Code into your content - That is all there is to it.

Next we will explain how to expand on these options and fine tune your ad deployment for maximum revenue.

What Are Custom Channels?

Custom channels allow you to divide your statistics up between different ad units, eg. you can create a custom channels for both a 728x90 Leaderboard and a 468x60 Banner ad unit, then within your statistics you can monitor the performance of each ad unit individually.

Here are examples of what you can test with custom channels

All of these things can affect your CTR and CPM figures, for instance you could create two custom channels for a single 728x90 Leaderboard testing the difference in CTR between link colors.

How Do I Create Custom Channels?

It's very quick and easy. Click "Add Custom Channel".

Next, enter a Name for this new channel (eg. if you are testing a 728x90 Leaderboard at the top of your page with red links you could name it "728x90 Top Red") then click Create Publisher Channel.

Now when you go through the "Ad Code Wizard" you will be able to create an ad unit and by selecting the Publisher Channel (728x90 Top Red) you can now track that individual ad block performance on the "Revenue Summary" page.

Revenue Summary Explained

Publisher Channel Data
This allows you to choose specific channels to view very accurate statistics about your ads including Ad Block CPM.
